Morning after arriving at the Mumbai, meet our chauffer and drive towards Lonavala. Begin your day by heading straight to Lonavala, a popular hill station situated at the height of 625mt above the sea level. It is the perfect location for hiking and trekking. On arrival check in to the hotel.
Later in the afternoon, once you have straightened your backs, embark on a sightseeing tour to the major tourist hotspots of Lonavala. Major attractions scheduled today are Bushi Dam, Lonavala lake, Lions Points, Wax Museum, Narayani Dham, Karla Caves.
Later visit some beautiful Khandala places like Rajmachi Garden, it’s is garden & a place visited by tourists to relax and watch the hills of Khandala. Perfect view of Mumbai-Pune Express Highway & excellent view of Kune Valley. The garden has some trees and plenty of monkeys. A little ahead of Rajmachi Garden is the Sunset Point, Shooting Point and Khandala lake.
Return to the hotel to retire for the night.
In the morning post breakfast, set off to visit the Bhaja Caves, which is the best example of Buddhist cave architecture in India. They are located on a hill village Bhaja. The caves are 400 feet above the village. Bhaja Caves are a group of 22 rock-cut caves dating back to the 2nd century BC.
Visit to the Lohagad Fort. There are around 200-300 steps to get to the top of the fort. The overall time required for trekking is around 1 to 1.5 hours. It is an important hill fort used extensively by Chatrapati Shivaji. Lohagad rises to an elevation of 1,033 m above sea level. This is a recognized structure which is famous for its four walls that are still in an unbroken state, this gives you the idea of old times glory.
Then visit Pavana Lake, also known as Pavana Dam and Pawna Lake, is a reservoir turned artificial lake in the Indian state of Maharashtra. You can enter in this beautiful lake on an additional cost.
Later, visit the Tikona Fort. The fort’s mammoth entrance is a special attraction. The Tikona fort is a great trekking destination for the adventurous tourists. It takes approximately 1.5 hour to reach the peak, from where one can enjoy exhilarating and panoramic views of Pawna Lake and the surrounding region. You can see Tung, Lohagad, Visapur forts easily.
Then drive to the Korigad Fort, which is standing at an elevation of around 920 meters from sea level. Approximately 740-stepped-stairway leads, which would take around 45 minutes to reach the peak. There’s a small lake at the centre of the fort, three elegant temples which are established at the notch of the peak. The fort depicts the legacy of Maratha cultural established by Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and later conquered by the Britishers.
In the evening return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Once you are done with the breakfast, leave for Matheran. Matheran is a no-vehicle hill station. So, for commuting within the hill town, you have three options – walking, horseback or hand-pulled rickshaws. Vehicle would be stop last at Dasturi Naka Car Parking. From the Dasturi car park, it’s a 30-minute walk to the centre. Before you enter the limits of Matheran, Matheran Municipal council charges a fee of Rs 25 per adult and Rs 10 for children approx.
On reaching Matheran, check-in at hotel. In the afternoon embark on a guided tour to the major tourist attraction of Matheran like the Panorama Point, Porcupine Point, the Prabal Fort and Irshalgad Fortress. In the evening enjoy boat ride in the Charlotte Lake. The two famous picnic spots of Matheran, Louisa point and Echo point are located on the left side of the lake. Enjoy night stay at the hotel.
Today after breakfast, check out from the hotel and go to the Dasturi Naka Car Parking (on your own). Where you would be drive to the Mumbai for your outward journey.
